How to Remove and Prevent Zoom Bombers in Online Meetings

If you’re in a Zoom meeting and someone is disrupting it, you can immediately remove them and then set up stronger security to stop future incidents.

  1. Remove a Zoom Bomber Instantly
  • Open the Participants pane in Zoom.
  • Hover over the disruptive person’s name until the “More” option appears.
  • Click Remove to eject them.
  • If it’s a bot, look for names like Meeting Notetaker, AI Notetaker, or Read.ai Bot
  1. Stop Disruptive Behavior
  • Mute all participants as soon as you notice unusual activity. This prevents further audio disruptions.
  • If the bomber is sharing their screen, disable screen sharing for all participants when creating the meeting (select Who can share? > Only Host).
  1. Prevent Future Zoom Bombing
  • Enable a waiting room or lock the meeting after starting. This blocks late entries, including bots.
  • Disable screen sharing for all except the host.
  • Screen participants in breakout rooms: Have a greeter ask new joiners to show their camera and answer questions before letting them in — this has reduced bombing attempts by nearly 100% in some cases.
  1. Report and Document
  • If the bomber persists, report abusive behavior via Zoom’s trust form under Report Abusive Behavior or Content.
  • Keep a record of incidents for security review.

Tip: The faster you mute and remove the bomber, the less damage they can cause. Combine immediate action with proactive meeting setup to protect your sessions.
